TONEBOOK VOLUME II OPEN CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS

Inpatient Press in collaboration with Lea Bertucci is pleased to announce an open call for scores for the second volume of The Tonebook. This publication is a survey of creative approaches to musical notation by some of today’s most innovative living sound artists and composers in the form of a limited edition artist’s book. We hope to cast a wide net and showcase diverse approaches to creatively notating sound. From staff notation to completely abstract textural/graphic/architectural/algorithmic depictions, we are interested in the idiosyncratic visual languages that sound artists develop to describe their music. Artists included in the first volume include: Zeena Parkins, Elliot Sharp, Eli Keszler, Nate Wooley and Phill Niblock among many others. Excerpts from Volume 1 can be found here http://inpatientpress.bigcartel.com/product/tonebook  and here https://www.thewire.co.uk/galleries/gallery-the-tonebook-collection-of-graphic-scores Instructions: Please submit as many scores as you like using the google form (link below). Please note that for each score, you must fill out an individual form. The files must be PDF’s at no larger than 10mb per file. https://goo.gl/forms/EW37nX3TyNm5Efv92 Timeline: Deadline for submissions is midnight on May 31st, 2018. Applicants will be informed of the curator’s decision around late August. The publication is scheduled for release in early 2019. For more information, contact archon@inpatientpress.com
