"INDEED WE PROMISED U ENTERTAINMENT & U GOT IT AS ON A STAGE VIEWED FROM A MOUNTAINTOP WE FROLICKD IN THE 4 COLORS OR LIKE CELLS UPON A MICROSCOPE FLOOR TO SILENT MUSIC & UNSPOKEN WORDS OUR MASQUE CALMED U: WE ARE THE DRUG & THE AWAKENING" - James Merrill
Inpatient Press is proud to announce the upcoming publication of its first two titles: Immaterials, a book of drawings and original verse by August Cross, and Blue Sun, a collection of poetry by Tamas Panitz. While deeply engaged with contemporary concerns, these challenging volumes also carry with them the torch of disciplined tradition.
Drawn from Goya’s livid etchings, which wreaked the traditions and beliefs of life in Spain, August's critical, insightful illustrations in Immaterials reveal the gray areas of our own ethics with the precision, imagination, and splatters of a mad doctor—a realm where witches ride Predator drones and office workers are hunted for sport. Immaterials will be available for purchase online and at select retailers on February 15, 2014.
Tamas' vivacious words coalesce on the pages of Blue Sun as though induced by ritual. These visions dare you to dance around their fire, bearing a historical power that is skillfully recounted and contrasted against our own modernity. Reading them requires participation and receptivity. Blue Sun will be available for purchase online and at select retailers on March 25, 2014.
Announcements of the authors’ readings and exhibitions, as well as preorder information, are forthcoming.
